3 Votes For Hunger

This fall, several Christian Theological Seminary students have been examining the theology behind advocacy, particularly regarding the issue of hunger.  How does God call us to respond? Perhaps more than any other issue, God calls us in numerous ways to share our abundant harvest and it’s our obligation to ensure our government carries out the call.

Voters in Indianapolis can cast three votes to have a measurable impact on the cause of feeding our community’s hungry.
  1. Hillary Clinton for President - Clinton has proposed a mandate directing 10% of all federal resources to communities historically impoverished over the last three decades.
  2. John Gregg for Governor - An important component of tackling this issue is creating a greater culture of collaboration between the hundreds of organizations, individuals and churches working on the issue.  Gregg’s call for a statewide coordinator of philanthropy could play an important role in bringing all of these voices to the same table.
  3. Yes on Mass Transit Initiative - Improved transit provides for safe access to areas with retail food outlets and makes earning stable income possible for those lacking private transportation options.

Experts believe fixing hunger is an attainable goal, not a lofty pipe-dream.  These votes will help bring about that reality.
